Key West Eats!

Updated: May 21, 2023

Often, when people think “Key West,” they think: Duval Street, cruise stop, or Spring Break. But what about “foodie destination?”

On this tiny two-mile by four-mile island, there are dozens of restaurants offering many different types of cuisine. Did you know there are even a handful of Michelin Star chefs who call The Keys home? The Keys is truly a foodie lover’s dream! Here is our list of the top six restaurants in Key West:

1. For Quintessential Keys Experience: Blue Heaven

Just two blocks off Duval at the corner of Petronia and Thomas streets sits this little slice of heaven. (See what we did there?). Make your way through the gate and gardens for a one-of-a-kind, al

fresco dining experience with arguably the best food in all the Keys! Featuring cuisine deeply rooted in Caribbean influence, you’ll find

the menu delightfully refreshing and inspired. For a real treat, order

a slice of their mile-high key lime pie!

2. Where the Locals Go: Salute on The Beach

To truly get a feel of any destination, go where the locals go. Not sure where to start? In Key West, that place is Salute on The Beach. Far from the hustle and bustle of Old Town, Salute embraces the laid- back island lifestyle, and offers fresh Italian cuisine at this beachside café.

3. Can’t Miss: Kaya Island Eats

Consider yourself warned! The food at Kaya is so good, you’ll find yourself daydreaming about it long after you return home. This little place is tucked between buildings, making it hard to find unless you know where to look (or follow your nose!). Kaya blends cuisines from the Caribbean, Hawaii, and the Pacific into a foodie’s delight! Everything on the menu is good, but we recommend the Rasta Pasta. One more note: it’s great for families and has a fantastic menu for kids!

4. Best Desserts: Better Than Sex

Celebrating an engagement or anniversary while in Key West? Or maybe on a fun girl’s trip? Better Than Sex needs to be added to your list. This adults-only spot features world-class culinary drinks and desserts, all with PG-13 themed names. They’ll make you blush, but it may just be the best dessert you’ve ever had in your life!

5. Best Atmosphere: Sunset Pier

Food: check. Drinks: check. Music: check. Location: check. Sunset Pier’s address is literally “0 Duval Street”, the end of the road! As its name suggests, it is found on a large pier extending out into the water, facing west, to catch the most magnificent sunsets. Pull up a brightly colored barstool, order a Key Lime Daiquiri and some fresh mahi tacos, and listen to some island music as you watch the boats troll by.

6. Best for Special Occasions: Latitudes, Sunset Key

This upscale restaurant is a true gem in The Keys. Located just off the shore of Key West on Sunset Key, Latitudes has the most idyllic location in all The Keys. Situated on the far side of the Key, it is

the perfect spot to dine under the palm tree canopy, eat a gourmet meal, and have a front-row seat to the best show in town: a world-famous Keys sunset.

Sorry/not sorry for making you hungry! The Florida Keys, especially Key West, is truly a great destination if you love to eat well when traveling. Local eats, fine dining, and even some adventurous food options can all be found here. Be sure to mention your favorites from this list to us when you plan your trip so we can add them to your itinerary!
